Donegal Fine Gael TD, Joe McHugh hopes to ‘develop a deeper understanding’ of the problems faced by refugees when he leads a delegation to the Ukrainian border next week.
Labour TD, Brendan Howlin, Sinn Fein’s John Brady and Fine Gael Senator Regina Doherty are also a part of the delegation to Romania and Moldova who have taken in tens of thousands of people fleeing from Ukraine.
Deputy McHugh is Chair of the Oireachtas Committee on European affairs and will meet with refugees during the visit while a second trip to Georgia is expected to take place at a later date.
He tells OceanFM News what is hoped to be gained from the visit.
