Leitrim Councillor claims NCT delays are a bigger issue for those living in rural areas

A Leitrim Councillor is warning that the current backlog of NCT tests is disproportionately impacting those living in rural Ireland.

Up to 1,600 motorists are currently waiting for an NCT test.

Delays are 16 times that of pre-pandemic levels, with no appointment available online until July.

It’s been claimed that Covid-19 continues to impact staffing levels at centres nationwide.

The figure waiting has nearly doubled this month.

Kinlough based Councillor Justin Warnock says the backlog is a bigger issue for those living rurally that do not have access to public transport and need their own vehicles to commute to work.
