Local carer says living costs are pushing many carers to the limit



A Collooney based carer is calling on the Government to provide additional supports to help family carers cover the rising cost-of-living crisis.

 

Family Carers Ireland claim that their members often face higher bills when it comes to energy, health and transport costs.

 

They ae seeking to extend eligibility for the Fuel Allowance, while the Provision of a once-off payment of €300 to all family carers in receipt of the Carer’s Support Grant has also been suggested.

 

Collooney based carer Phil McGarry says many carers are finding it tough to make ends meet.
