Reports from throughout north west of ‘very dangerous’ roads



There are reports from throughout the north west of treacherous conditions on roads and footpaths.

Sligo County Council is warning that due to freezing temperatures all roads in the county are hazardous because of rain, snow and black ice.

It says untreated minor roads are particularly dangerous.

The council is also asking pedestrians to take extra care due to slippery conditions of footpaths throughout the county

A road at Doo, near Ballymote, is reported to be in a bad condition as well as in various areas of north Sligo, particularly around Carney.

In Donegal, a van has gone off the road at The Port crossroads at Inver while cars have left the road in Leghowney, outside Donegal Town.

Roads are also said to be treacherous in the Bundoran area, such as in the Ardfarna area.

Roads in the Rossinver and Kinlough areas are of Leitrim also reported to be very dangerous.
