Sligo famine ship victim remains to be buried in Canada next week



It’s been confirmed that the remains of some of those who died when their famine ship sank en route from Sligo to Canada are to be buried in Canada next week, and not returned to Ireland. The remains discovered on a Canadian beach are those of passengers on the ill-fated Carricks famine ship which left Sligo Port in 1847.
