The draw for the 2019 Leitrim Connacht Gold senior club football championship was made on Monday evening in the Bush Hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon.
The 12 senior clubs in the county have, once again, been divided into two groups of six.
County Champions Aughawillan have been drawn in Group B along with Allen Gaels and St Pat’s Dromahair.
Melvin Gaels and Glencar/Manorhamilton are in Group A along with last year’s beaten county finalists Mohill and an ever-improving Fenagh/St Caillin’s.

How the 2019 senior championship works
The top four teams in each group will qualify for the quarter-finals as follows: 1st Gp A v 4th Gp B, 2nd Gp A v 3rd Gp B, 3rd Gp A v 2nd Gp B, 4th Gp A v 1st Gp A. There will be an open draw for the county semi-finals.
The bottom two teams in each group will contest the relegation semi-finalist. Three senior teams will be relegated to the intermediate championship this year – the beaten semi-finalists and the loser of the relegation final. This will mean that the 2020 senior football championship in Leitrim will have 10 teams (to be divided into two groups of five).
In the Smith Monumentals Intermediate football championship, Drumkeerin have been drawn in Group A while Ballinagleara and last year’s junior county champions Glenfarne/Kilty have been drawn in Group B.

How the 2019 intermediate championship works
Like the senior championship, the top four teams in each group will qualify for the quarter-finals. An open draw will determine the semi-final pairings. The intermediate champions will be promoted to the senior championship for 2020. The bottom two teams in each group will be relegated to the junior A championship in 2020. For this year only, the junior ‘A’ county champions will not be promoted to the intermediate championhip for 2020.
Teams in 5th and 6th places in each Group will be relegated to Junior A for the following year. Intermediate Championship Winners to be promoted to Senior and Junior A Football Championship Winners 2019 will not be promoted to Intermediate for 2020 only.
