Only two fines were handed out for dog fouling in the Northwest during the last two years.
No fines were handed out in Counties Donegal and Leitrim, while two were handed out by Sligo County Council.
Dog owners who fail to pick up their dog poo face an on-the-spot fine of €150 and a maximum fine of €3,000 if convicted.
