A Leitrim councillor says a lot of the vacant houses in the county were built during the boom.
The latest CSO figures show Leitrim has the largest percentage of vacant houses in the country.
Over 3,590 houses, which is almost 20%, have been left vacant in County leitrim, with 1,590 of them left empty for five years or more.
Speaking to Ocean FM News, Leitrim Fine Gael Councillor Seán McDermott says there’s a need to put life back into rural towns and villages.
