Erne Gaels referee promoted to championship panel

Erne Gaels clubman Niall Cullen has been promoted to the 2017 Football Championship referees panel for the first time.

The Fermanagh man is one of just two new additions to the panel for this year’s football championship, which got underway with Sligo’s victory over New York last Sunday.

The other newcomer is Mayo man Jerome Henry.

Cullen refereed this year’s intermediate club football final between Westport of Mayo and St Colmcille’s of Meath in Croke Park in February, and also refereed in the national football league this season.

Former All-Ireland final referee Marty Duffy also retains his place on the football championship panel of 20, while Donegal’s Shaun McLaughlin is one the championship linesman panel.
