Sligo Rovers are out of the EA Sports Cup.
The Bit O’ Red were beaten in a penalty shootout by Galway United in yesterday’s quarter-final at the Showgrounds.
It was scoreless after 90 minutes, but substitute Mathew Stevens and top-scorer Kieran Sadlier netted in extra-time as it finished 2-2 after 120 minutes.
The Bit O’ Red missed three of their four penalties in the shootout, and Galway advanced 3-1.
Rovers boss Gerard Lyttle was disappointed…
Elsewhere, Cork beat St. Patrick’s Athletic 2-0 and Dundalk were 3-0 winners over Waterford.
The fourth quarter-final is tonight as Shamrock Rovers play host to Longford Town.
