Roads and rates among the concerns as Leitrim Councillor agree 2017 budget



The lack of funding for county roads in Leitrim was a major issue discussed at the annual budget meeting of the Council yesterday.

That’s according to the Cathaoirleach of the Council Mary Bohan after a budget of €33m was adopted by the Council.

The Fianna Fail Councillor says they also agreed to keep rates for businesses throughout county Leitrim the same for the ninth successive year.

With just over 1,000 ratepayers she says they did not want to impose further costs on ratepayers at present.

Other issues of concern raised by Councillors were the lack of money for hedgecutting, the upkeep of cemeteries, public lighting including lighting in estates and the need for more money to promote tourism.
