Five North West care centres included in latest HIQA inspections

Five nursing homes and care centres in the North West have received glowing reports from HIQA following the latest round of inspections.

The health watchdog’s reports were published this morning.

Four centres in Sligo and one in Donegal were included in this round of inspections, which were all carried out between January 29th and February 12th.

In Sligo, Bluebell Hill, Damson View, Glendalough, Sea Road Services and Rossbarna were all found to be compliant with all of HIQA’s regulations.

Damson View in particular was highlighted by HIQA as residents enjoyed taking part in everyday community activities such as visiting the hairdresser, barber and beautician, eating out in restaurants, shopping and other activities.

In Donegal, Saimer View in Ballyshannon was the only centre in the county to be included in these inspections, and was found to be compliant with all regulations bar Fire Precautions.

Following the publications, the HSE have released individual statements for each inspection. The statements praised the compliance of the Sligo centres, and detailed ammendments Saimer View will take to come into compliance with its Fire Precautions breach.
