Donegal’s Cockhill Celtic win FAI Junior Cup

Donegal’s Cockhill Celtic lifted the FAI Junior Cup for 2024 in dramatic fashion in Galway on Sunday afternoon, after beating Gorey Rangers (Wexford) on penalties.

Garbhan Friel fired home the winning spot-kick to give Cockhill a 3-1 victory in the shoot-out, after the teams had finished level at 1-1 at the end of extra-time.

Sunday’s win made up for the heartbreak of an FAI intermediate cup final loss for Cockhill 12 months previously.
