Multi-agency rescue operation carried out on Slieve League

Donegal Mountain Rescue Team, Killybegs Coast Guard and Rescue 118 were all tasked yesterday to assist a casualty with an ankle injury on Slieve League.

The incident occurred at around 5.25pm yesterday evening.

The casualty’s location was at a significant height, at around at 510 meters. The teams made their way to the Pilgrims Path, and with the casualty’s condition deteriorating, it was agreed that Rescue 118 also be tasked to complete the rescue.

Once on scene Rescue 118 landed and assisted the casualty with their medical needs and moved them from the cliff top and transfered them to hospital.

A crew from National Ambulance Service (NAS) were also on scene for the duration of the incident.
