Cadden & O’Donnell selected for World Athletics Relays

Sligo AC sprinter Lauren Cadden’s recent impressive running has seen her earn another Ireland selection.

The Skreen native has been picked for the Ireland 4×400 metres women’s relay squad for the upcoming World Athletics Relays in the Bahamas.

Cadden won Intervarsities gold for ATU Sligo in the 400m in Belfast just last weekend, smashing a 25-year-old Intervarsities record for the event in the process.

This is not her first Ireland selection of 2024.

In March, she was a reserve on the Ireland 4×400 relay squad that reached the final at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow.

North Sligo Athletic Club’s Chris O’Donnell is also selected – as part of the 4×400 mixed relay squad.

Rhasidat Adeleke has been also been chosen for both the women’s and mixed relay squads.

Both Ireland teams qualify automatically for the World Relays following top eight finishes at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest last summer.

The 2024 World Athletics Relays will take place in Nassau, the Bahamas, on Saturday May 4th and Sunday May 5th.
