Relatives of Creeslough victims express their opposition to proposed redevelopment of commercial building on the site where the tragedy occurred



The lives of the people of Creeslough changed for ever and a day when an Explosion took place on October 7th 2022 at an apartment behind an Applegreen filling station.

 

10 people lost their lives and a number of people were hospitalised as a result of injuries they sustained in the blast.

 

The site where the tragedy happened is currently planned for redevelopment. The families, friends and residents in Creeslough believe that this is disrespectful to the memory of those who died.

 

Instead of building on the site, they are proposing that it be turned into a memorial park dedicated to the victims.

 

Ann Marie Boyle lost her sister Catherine O’ Donnell at age 39 and her son James aged 13 in the explosion.

 

 

Leona Harper was just 14 years old when she lost her life in the Creeslough explosion.  Her dad Hugh, does not want to see a new shop and forecourt at the scene of the tragedy and is also appealing for people to sign the petition to stop the redevelopment.
