Loughrey and Ireland round off qualifying campaign with another win

Sligo Rovers winger Jodie Loughrey and the Republic of Ireland rounded off their UEFA women’s under 19 European Championship qualifying campaign with another victory on Tuesday afternoon.

The Scoil Mhuire Buncrana student was introduced as a half-time substitute in the 3-0 win over Croatia.

Tuesday’s victory was sealed with goals from Kate Thompson (Galway United), Ceola Bergin (Wexford Youths) and Hazel Donegan (Athlone Town).

The Republic were already assured their qualification to this summer’s tournament prior to the game following victories over Iceland and Austria last week.

Loughrey was on the scoresheet in the 4-1 win over Iceland.

The UEFA women’s under 19 European Championship takes place this summer in Lithuania.
