Jodie Loughrey scores in Ireland U19 Euros qualifier



Sligo Rovers winger Jodie Loughrey was on the scoresheet as the Republic of Ireland staged a second half comeback against Iceland in their U19 European Championship qualifier.

The game finished Iceland 1-4 Republic of Ireland.

Ireland found themselves a goal down in the early stages, and trailed 1-0 at half-time.

They were back on level terms on 56 minutes through an own goal, before Loughrey put Ireland ahead on 63 minutes.

Victory was sealed with further goals from Shelbourne’s Hannah Healy, and Shamrock Rovers’ Joy Ralph.

Ireland need to top group A2 to qualify for next summer’s tournament in Lithuania, and face Austria on Saturday at 11am. Both sides come in to the game following wins, with Austria seeing off Croatia easily after an 8-1 win.
