Sligo Rovers give new community role to Jamie Murphy

Sligo Rovers have appointed Jamie Murphy as the club’s new Football and Social Responsibility (FSR) Officer.

The new role at the club will be full-time, and Rovers say the appointment reinforces the club’s commitment and focus on the local community.

Murphy has been involved with the Manorhamilton Rangers soccer club in north Leitrim – and was head coach of the club’s senior women’s team in the inaugural season of the Sligo Bay Lobster Women’s Amateur League.

Murphy has been a community activist for many years – and has worked as a mental health worker with the Sligo Traveller Support Group.

He previously stood in the 2021 local elections as an independent.
