Sligo Rovers lose 3-0 to St Pat’s

Sligo Rovers suffered their second defeat of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division season on Easter Monday, as they lost 3-0 to St Patrick’s Athletic at Inchicore.

Two first-half goals from Luke Turner – and a fine strike from teenager Mason Melia near the end secured the three points for the Richmond Park club.

Rovers unhappy evening was compounded by an injury to defender Nando Pijnaker, who was stretcherd off injured after a nasty-looking clash of heads with goalkeeper Ed McGinty.

McGinty, who was still groggy after the clash, was also substituted later – to be replaced by Richard Brush.

Despite the defeat, Rovers remain second in the table behind leaders Shelbourne.
