Two vehicles seized in south Donegal as part of Bank Holiday clampdown

Two vehicles have been seized in south Donegal for various offences.

The seizures are part of a nationwide clampdown taking place in the north west on motoring offences across the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

In Ballyshannon, a van has been seized after Gardaí discovered the vehicle’s odometer had been tampered with.

Gardaí were conducting a checkpoint when they made the discovery.

It was found that that the van’s CRVT information in Garda records did not match and the odometer had been turned back over 22,000 kilometres from records in 2022.

Gardaí have reminded the public that it is illegal to interfere or engage another person to interfere with an odometer under the Road Traffic Act, 2014.

Gardaí say that they will be investigating the matter further.

While on Sunday morning, Gardaí seized a car following a patrol in Donegal Town.

The car was observed being driven in a suspicious manner.

After making attempts to evade Gardaí, the car was eventually stopped and the vehicle was found to be not insured while the driver was unable to produce any evidence of having insurance.
