Sligo Rovers suffered their first defeat of the new SSE Airtricity League Premier Division season on Friday night, losing 1-0 to Shelbourne at the Showgrounds.
John O’Sullivan’s 12th minute goal proved to be the matchwinner.
Rovers enjoyed the lions share of possession and did have the ball in the net through new striker Wilson Waweru – but the goal was ruled out for a foul on Shelbourne keeper Conor Kearins.
Apart from that, Rovers struggled to find a cutting edge in front of goal on the night.
Team boss John Russell spoke to Ocean FM Sport’s Ronan Flanagan after the game.
