Sligo-based Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 118 assisted in a major multi-agency operation off the Mayo coast on Friday afternoon which saw a casualty transferred to the care of the HSE.
The alert was raised after a casualty had become seriously ill on a German registered fishing vessel 111 miles west of Erris Head.
Malin Head Coast Guard, the UK Coastguard and Dublin-based 116 also assisted in the mission.
The casualty patient was winched onboard and transported to Sligo by Rescue 118.
