Coláiste Cholmcille Ballyshannon celebrates €50,000 sports windfall



Coláiste Cholmcille, Ballyshannon, was announced on Friday as the national winner of the Lidl Plus Secondary Schools rewards competition.

The top prize is €50,000 towards the development of sport in the school.

Coláiste Cholmcille was one of four schools nationally to make the final shortlist – and the overall winner was determined by a public vote.

Former pupils of Coláiste Cholmcille include swimmer Mona McSharry, athlete Lucy McGlynn, current Donegal LGFA footballer Caoimhin Keon and former Leitrim intercounty player Emlyn Mulligan.

Ocean FM Sport’s Austin O’Callaghan visit the Ballyshannon school on Friday to get reaction to this success.

School Principal Cora Fagan explained what this prize will mean for sport in the school.
