Six North West care centres fully compliant with HIQA regulations in latest reports

Six care centres across the North West have been included in the latest round of HIQA inspections.

The health watchdog published the findings of 30 reports this morning.

Three centres in Sligo, two in Donegal and one in Leitrim were all among the reports, with inspections carried out at the end of last year.

All six centres were found to be compliant with all of HIQA’s health and safety regulations.

In Sligo, Réalta, Gweedore Services and Pearse Road Services all received glowing reports, with no non-compliances found.

Gweedore Services were highlighted individually for examples of good practice, as residents said that they had regular contact with their family members through telephone calls, family visits and visits home.

Residents there were also supported to be actively involved in their communities with activities such as drama classes, dance classes and trips for coffee and dinner.

In Donegal, Teach Sona and Cill Aoibhinn CGH were also found to be fully compliant with HIQA’s regulations. Teach Sona were found to be substantially compliant with Staffing, Training and Staff Development, Governance and Management, Fire Precautions and Protection.

Meanwhile, Cill Aoibhinn CGH were also found to be substantially compliant with Governance and Management, as well as Admission and Contract for the Provision of Services.

Shannon Quay in Leitrim completes the clean sweep for the region, with highlights including good quality, person-centred care to residents.
