The popular Cloonacool GAA 5k road races attracted record entries and saw the course record beaten on Sunday in south Sligo.
Sligo-based John Travers, running in the Donore Harriers singlet, knocked an impressive 15 seconds off the previous course best to win the senior men’s race in 14 minutes 54 seconds, finishing ahead of the Sligo AC duo of Shane Hayes and Seamus Somers.
Dromahair’s Sinead Fowley won the women’s race.
For the first time, entries reportedly topped the 300 mark for this year’s event.
