Goal-hungy Sligo win in Louth

Sligo hurlers promotion push in Division 3A of the Allianz Hurling gathered further momentum on Sunday in Dowdallshill as they recorded a 5-19 to 3-17 victory over Louth.

Four first-half goals from the Yeats man laid the foundation for this win as they recorded their second league win of the campaign to remain unbeaten on five points and second in the table behind leaders Mayo.

Gerard O’Kelly-Lynch contributed 2-12 of Sligo’s total on the day.

Sligo were relegated from Division 2B last season after losing a play-off to London – but Stephen Shiel’s side look determined to go straight back up this season.

The team’s toughest encounters have still to come, with games against leaders Mayo and Monaghan, who beat Armagh last Sunday.

Division 3A results
Louth 3-17 Sligo 5-19
Monaghan 0-23 Armagh 0-20
Mayo 2-17 Cavan 1-12
