Sligo Rovers keeper Conor Walsh joins Finn Harps on loan

Finn Harps made use of the League of Ireland transfer deadline day on Thursday by signing young Sligo Rovers goalkeeper Conor Walsh on loan.

The Westport native gained plenty of Premier Division experience with Rovers last season following Luke McNicholas’ departure to Wrexham – but the return of Ed McGinty to the Showgrounds this season appears to have curtailed his first-team opportunities for now.

He has agreed a loan move to Harps until the end of June – but remains on the Rovers books for the 2024 season.

Walsh, who’s already been capped for the Republic of Ireland at under-19 level, now links up with his former Rovers team-mate and fellow Mayo man David Cawley at Finn Park.

Harps play their first home game of the new First Division season on Friday night, against Cork City.
