Leitrim clubs asked to make financial contribution to Páirc Seán pitch upgrade

Leitrim GAA clubs are being asked to make a contribution of  €3320 each to help with resurfacing the pitch at Avantmoney Páirc Seán MacDiarmada  in Carrick-on-Shannon.

In a letter sent out to the the clubs, the county board says work is expected at the end of March.

The projected cost of the work is 383,000.

The Carrick pitch has struggled for a number of years in wet weather conditions – and the county executive has long signalled its intention to improve the quality of county’s primary county playing surface.

The county board meets this Monday (February 26th) to finalise the arrangements for the funding of the improvement work.

The division of the JP McManus money to Leitrim’s clubs saw each receive €23,256 – although it’s understood that at no stage has the county board asked clubs to use  this money to pay its contribution to the pitch resurfacing works in Carrick-on-Shannon.
