Donegal MD has highest number of Ukrainian refugees in North West



The Donegal Municipal District is currently housing the highest number of Ukrainian refugees in the Ocean FM franchise area.

 

CSO data up to the 4th OF February shows that over 104 thousand Ukrainian refugees are now living in Ireland with over five thousand of them in Sligo, north Leitrim and south Donegal.

 

The latest statistics from the CSO show the Donegal Electoral area currently has 2,122 Ukrainian refugees living there – the highest figure in the North West region.

 

This is followed by the Sligo –Drumcliffe MD at 1,087.

 

Next is Sligo – Strandhill where 986 Ukrainians are currently being housed.

 

In the Ballymote – Tubbercurry MD, the figure is 446.

 

Finally there are currently 431 Ukrainian refugees living in the Manorhamilton MD.

 

Women over the age of 20 made up almost half of all arrivals – with men over 20 representing just over a fifth.

 

This week marks the second anniversary of the Russian war on Ukraine.
