Local Councillor expresses disappointment that patients and staff have not moved to new Community Hospital in Ballyshannon

It was expected that patients and staff at the Rock/Shiel Hospital would have moved the new Hospital in Ballyshannon this morning.

Towards the end of last week it emerged that there was a vote taken by IMNO members and the nursing staff have refused to move over to the new facility.

The INMO members have concerns over planned staffing levels at the community Hospital.

They previously highlighted their concerns over patient’s safety and they wanted to make sure that the patients are not exposed to the risk of compromised care due to unsafe staffing levels.

In a statement on Friday the HSE say they have continued to engage with staff and the INMO and SIPTU in an effort to progress the move to the new Ballyshannon Community Hospital.

Local Fine Gael Councillor Barry Sweeney earlier discussed the situation on this morning’s edition of North West Today.
