Opening of Ballyshannon Community Hospital hits stumbling block

Ongoing negotiation between the HSE and the INMO over the new 80-bed community hospital in Ballyshannon has hit another stumbling block.

It is believed a vote took place on Thursday regarding what the INMO feel are unsafe planned staffing levels.

Nurses have previously said they want to ensure their patients are safe, and not exposed to the risk of compromised care due to unsafe staffing levels, and they want to ensure these issues are resolved from the outset instead of waiting until staff and patients are already in danger.

Local Fine Gael Councillor Barry Sweeny is urging those involved to find a resolution.
