GRA President says events in Glenfarne shows the dangers facing Gardaí

The President of the GRA says the events in north Leitrim on Monday morning is a reminder of the dangers that Gardai face on a daily basis in the line of duty.

Two officers sustained injuries following a road collision on the N16 at Glenfarne.

The officers were treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the other car, a man aged in his 40s, was arrested at the scene.

Brendan O Connor says the problems with retention and recruitment within the force is putting their members at risk.

Gardaí are appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) travelling on the N16 between Manorhamilton and Glenfarne between 4:00am and 4:45am this morning, to make this footage available.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Manorhamilton Garda Station on 071 982 0620, the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
