Donegal retain hurling’s Conor McGurk Cup

Donegal hurlers retained the Conor McGurk Cup for 2024 with a 2-25 to 0-22 win over Down in Saturday’s final, played in Belfast.

The cup was presented to Donegal captain Conor Gartland by Paula McGurk, wife of the later Conor McGurk.

Ulster hurling’s warm-up competition is named to honour the memory of former Queen’s University hurling club member, Conor McGurk, who passed away suddenly in 2014.

Conor studied Science at Queen’s and was an active member of the university hurling club.

He played in two Fitzgibbon finals and was twice picked as goalkeeper on combined University teams, the highest accolade in Higher Education hurling.
