St Claire’s win Connacht in dramatic shoot-out

St Claire’s Comprehensive School, Manorhamilton, are celebrating a Connacht Schools soccer title after Thursday’s dramatic penalty shootout victory in the girls SFAI under-20 decider, played at Solar 21 Park in Castlebar.

The north Leitrim girls U20 ‘B’ final ended 0-0 with St Joseph’s Secondary School, Foxford, at the end of extra-time.

The final went to penalties – and it was the Manor girls who prevailed, winning the shoot-out 3-2.

However, there won’t be too much time for celebrating as St Claire’s must now re-group for Tuesday’s national cup semi-final against the Ulster winners Pobalscoil Gaoith Dobhair in Donegal Town (Kick-off 1pm).
