Grange’s Ryan O’Sullivan completes Seven Summits challenge

Ryan O’Sullivan from Grange in Co Sligo has become the youngest Irish mountain climber to complete the Seven Summits challenge.

O’Sullivan, who’s 27 years of age, reached the summit of the last of the seven peaks, Mount Vinson in Antartica (4892 metres) this week.

The Seven Summits Challenge covers the seven tallest mountains on each continent that have to be climbed.

Dr. Clare O’Leary, at 34 years of age, had been the youngest Irish climber to scale the Seven Peaks back in 2005.

O’Sullivan reached the top of Mounty Everest in May of last year, which was the sixth of the seven peak challenges.

He had since been preparing for the final ascent – up Mount Vinson in Antarctica – and he reached the top last week along with fellow mountain climber Johnny Ward from county Down.

O’Sullivan was born and raised in Grange in North Sligo and he currently lives in Dublin where he works as a Data Analyst for Paddy Power.
