Sligo name five debutants for Roscommon game

Sligo senior football manager Tony McEntee has named five debutants in his starting team for Friday evening’s Connacht FBD quarter-final against Roscommon at the Air Dome.

In what will be the county’s first competitive fixture of 2024, last year’s Connacht under-20 captain Canice Mulligan is named in the half-back line along with fellow under-20 panellists Luke Casserly, Dylan Walsh and Daire O’Boyle.

Shamrock Gaels clubman Lee Deignan is also set to make his first senior start with Sligo.

His elder brother Shane was also in contention for a place in the side – but an injury picked up last week has ruled him out for the time being.

Castleconnor’s Oisín Flynn, who missed much of last season after breaking his arm, will make his first FBD start for Sligo tonight.

He has some FBD experience already, having come on a substitute in a corresponding game last season.

Paddy O’Connor will captain the Sligo team in the absence of Niall Murphy, who recently got married.

Friday’s game will be live on Ocean FM from 7pm – and will also be live-streamed by Connacht GAA.

The winners will play either Mayo or London in the semi-finals next weekend.

Mayo play London this Sunday in the Air Dome at 1pm.
