Derrybeg NCT Centre ranked second highest for full test failure last year

A test centre in Donegal had the second highest NCT failure rate in the country last year.

The centre in Derrybeg in Gweedore recorded a 56% failure rate in 2023 and was only tipped by the Cavan NCT centre at 59%.

The test centre in Sligo had a failure rate of 41% while in Donegal Town, the failure rate was 43%.

The NCT, which was introduced in 2000, aims to reduce the number of road deaths by identifying defects in vehicles such as faulty brakes, worn tyres and defective headlight aim.

It is conducted every two years for vehicles under 10 years old and every year for vehicles after that.
