Gardaí issue new year road safety appeal



Gardaí in Donegal are urging the public to add road safety to their list of resolutions as the new year approaches.

 

Gardaí say by making conscious choices to reduce risks and increase safety on the roads, we can all help prevent accidents and save lives.

 

So far this year, almost 200 people have lost their lives in road incidents in Ireland.

 

Gardaí have the issued the following advice:

Slow down. Speed kills.

Belt up! Wear your seatbelt and ensure that your passengers do too.

Never drive while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Do not use/hold a mobile phone while driving.

Ensure that your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition before travelling.

Ensure that you are visible to motorists while out walking or cycling.
