Greg Bolger leaves Sligo Rovers

Greg Bolger has announced he is leaving Sligo Rovers after three seasons at the Showgrounds.

The Wexford native, who wore the captain’s armband at various stages during his three years, confirmed his departure in a tweet on Friday afternoon.

Bolger is rejoining one of his former clubs, Cork City in the First Division.

A popular figure amongst supporters, his wholeheartedly displays for the bit o’red endeared him to locals.

He became important part of the Rovers squad upon his arrival at the start of the 2021 season, when he joined Liam Buckley’s squad, having missed the bulk of the 2020 season with Shamrock Rovers following a leg break.

He took on a coaching role with Rovers last season – but confirmation came on Friday that his time with the club has now come to an end.
