Carbury beaten 4-1 by Salthill Devon in Champions Cup final

Carbury FC were beaten 4-1 by Salhill Devon of Galway in Sunday’s Connacht Champions Cup final, played at Solar 21 Park in Castlebar.

Salthill led 2-0 at half-time.

Mark McGoldrick gave the Sligo-Leitrim side fresh hope shortly after the restart when he pulled a goal back.

However Salthill added two further goals in the second half through former Sligo Rovers player Vinny Faherty and Matthew Barrett to run out convincing winners.

This was the first Champions Cup final in Connacht since 2019 – the competition hadn’t been run since Covd.

Carbury were the last team to win the competition, having lifted the trophy in its inaugural year of 2018 –  and again in 2019.
