Way now clear for Mary Coughlan to become next Donegal GAA Chairperson

The way now appears clear for former Tanáiste Mary Coughlan to become the next Donegal GAA Chairperson.

The two other nominees, Sean Dunnion and Cieran Kelly, are not standing for the role at Annual Convention on December the 13th.

That leaves the St Naul’s clubwoman as the sole candidate to succeed the outgoing Chair Fergus McGee.

Dunnion, from the Four Masters Club in Donegal town, previously served as County Board Chairman – but he confirmed to Donegal Live on Thursday that he would not be standing for a second term.

Kelly, who’s a St Naul’s clubmate of Coughlan’s, and a former County Board Treasurer, signalled his intention to withdraw via Social Media on Wednesday.

Donegal GAA Convention takes place in Jackson’s Hotel in Ballybofey on Wednesday, December 13th.
