Local Traveller Support spokesperson says constant racial discrimination is fuelling mental health pandemic



A representative from the Sligo Traveller Support Group says year of constant racial discrimination has led to a mental health pandemic in the traveller community.

 

A Traveller advocacy group is to protest outside Leinster House next week calling for action on the issue.

 

The Traveller Mental Health Network says they are still waiting on a Government lead strategy to deal with the escalating crisis of suicide in their community.

 

Meanwhile, The Irish Traveller Movement will make a presentation to a Dáil Committee today on the matter of Traveller accommodation.
