The Garda Commissioner says Gardai in Leitrim have been unable to find any witnesses who were reportedly stopped illegally in Dromahair on Friday night.
It was claimed that some local residents set up illegal checkpoints on approach roads into Dromahair, in the wake of rumours that refugees were en-route to the village.
Drew Harris was responding to questions from Green Party TD Patrick Costello during an Oireachtas Justice Committee meeting yesterday.
