A status yellow weather advisory alert been issued for Donegal from Thursday evening.
Met Éireann say temperatures are expected to fall below minus three degrees in many areas.
There will also be frost and ice leading to hazardous travelling conditions.
The alert will run from 6pm on Thursday evening and will end at 12 noon on Friday.
