Donegal GP’s hold ‘frank and productive meeting with Minister Donnelly

A Donegal GP has expressed his hope that solutions can be found for issues at Letterkenny University Hospital

The comments come following a meeting between the Minister for Health and General Practitioners in the area.

This morning’s meeting was described as a ‘frank and productive’ where detailed discussion on the issues and problems associated with healthcare in Donegal were discussed.

It’s understood that there was an acknowledgement that LUH has unique challenges when compared to other +hospitals across the country including geographical isolation and the long distances faced by patients to the centre of excellence in Galway.

Speaking to ocean FM news Dr Ciaran O’Fearraigh says Minister Donnelly has committed to further meetings with General Practitioners in order to outline his plans on how the situation at the facility can be improved.
