Coolera/Strandhill well beaten by St Brigid’s

Coolera/Strandhill’s foray into this year’s Connacht senior club football championship was shortlived on Sundady as a controlled display from Roscommon champions St Brigid’s saw them record a 0-13 to 1-3 quarter-final victory at Dr Hyde Park.

The damage was done in the first half as – despite a bright start -Coolera/Strandhill failed to register a single score in the opening 30 minutes with Brigid’s establishing a 0-9 to 0-0 interval lead.

The Sligo champions were playing for pride in the second half and Leo Doherty’s goal put some measure of respectability on the scoreboard but Brigid’s were never in serious danger.

Doherty would later receive a red card as Coolera/Strandhill finished the game with 14 players.

The Roscommon champions now prepare for a Connacht semi-final against Eamonn O’Hara’s Mohill.
