Kinlough candidate to contest election on community issues

The Sinn Fein party has confirmed that it will run two candidates in next year’s council elections in the Manorhamilton Municipal District.

It’s been  confirmed that Kinlough native Michelle Brennan Shyabo will run alongside sitting Councillor Padraig Fallon with the hope of securing two of the six seats in the Manorhamilton electoral area.

Councillor Fallon was first elected in 2014 and retained his seat in 2019.  it was felt at the time the party could have targeted a second seat due to their popularity in the area.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Michelle Brennan Shyabo says it’s a great honour for her on a person level to run in the elections.   She says she will be contesting the elections on a number of local issues including securing greater facilities and infrastructure in the Kinlough area.

In the Ballinamore MD sitting Councillor Brandan Barry will be joined on the party ticket by Joanne Curnan and Roisin Kenny who is a sister of the Sligo Leitrim TD Martin Kenny.

Drumshanbo based Brendan Barry was first elected to the Local authority in 2014 and retained his seat five years later.

Sinn Fein will also look to win a seat in the Carrick-on-Shannon MD with Lisa Mulligan being confirmed as the party’s only candidate so far to contest the elections in that area.

Sinn Fein last won a seat in the Carrick-on-Shannon Electoral area in 2014 when Séadhna Logan was one of four party candidates that were successful in securing  council seats.
