Extra-time win takes Eoghan Rua into Connacht final

Sligo intermediate champions Eoghan Rua are through to the Connacht LGFA intermediate football final following Sunday’s dramatic extra-time semi-final win over Salthill Knocknacarra in Galway.

The west Sligo girls won on a final scoreline of 2-13 to 1-14 to set up a provincial decider with Ballinamore Sean O’Heslin’s.

It was a terrific display from Eoghan Rua who were up against last year’s All-Ireland junior club champions.

They came back from five points down in the closing stages of normal time to force extra-time.

The Leitrim representatives beat MacHale Rovers of Mayo in Crossmolina earlier on Sunday, by 4-12 to 1-9.

The final takes place in two week’s time.

Connacht LGFA IFC semi-finals
