LGBT representative calls for action plan to tackle hate crime following Yousef Palani sentencing



A representative for the LGBT community says the events of April 2022 will cast a shadow over Sligo and the North West for some time to come.

Pádraig Rice was reacting after the Yousef Palani was sentenced yesterday in the Central Criminal Courts.

The Policy and Research manager with LGBT Ireland says the murders of Aidan Moffitt and Michael Snee were ‘horrendous’ and had ‘a devastating’ impact on the community.

He described yesterday’s sentencing as another milestone in what has been a dark chapter for the families, friends and wider community.

Speaking to Ocean FM news Padraig Rice says the double murder had a profound effect on the LGBT community and he’s called for a national action to tackle such hate crime:
